Virtual reality just got a lot more fun. Imagine realistic sex with a partner hundreds or thousands of miles away using video and sensors so you really feel what they are doing. That's what FriXion is all about. It promises to be a social network for sex - like Skype with touching.
"Unique to FriXion, our most advanced peripherals use bidirectional force feedback telemetry to create simultaneous one to one motion and resistance between your and your partner's device," according to their website. "The result is convincing and organic intimacy over any distance, from across a room to across an ocean!"
This is a social networks for sex, but like other networks FriXion say they plan on opening up their API to programmers, so any and all can innovate using their platform, allowing interaction among any number of devices and platforms. That means: realistic sex video games, crazy uses for artificial intelligence, or just making that long distance relationship a little bit easier. Maybe even an addon for Facebook!
Their devices will connect with a range of toys: sleeves, dildos or anything else you can imagine. The possibilities are endless.
Nerve spoke to the creator of Frixion:
“Frixion is a software platform we’re developing to enable people to connect physically over distance,” explains Seth, who chose not to share his last name, as we spoke last year. “It feels like the act of sex. While you’re thrusting, I’m being penetrated. You’re pushing back. I’m feeling the resistance.” Compared to other sex machines or long-distance sex tech, Seth claims that FriXion provides a very organic motion, one that’s true to real-life sexual interactions. Just watch the promo videos. Pair it with a virtual reality simulator like the Oculus Rift, and you could see users having a near three-dimensional experience with other users, porn, cam girls, or even avatars."
