You may decide that you don’t need lube at all. You and your partner (or partners) may decide that you already get sweaty and wet enough to make the inclusion of lubes in your love making simply unnecessary. You may think that lubes are really for those people who are unable to get wet enough during sex and even that they are for old people who need a bit of ‘help’. However, this is far from the truth and there are various reasons why you might want to try lube in your love making.
Firstly, lubes can add new sensations to your sex life. You may think that you and your partner are moist enough already, but lubes can add a new dimension of slipperiness to your love making. Lubes can lead to you experiencing whole new sensations and dimensions that you did not think were possible.
Secondly, lubes can enable you to penetrate new parts with ease, and with a new variety of sensations. For anal sex, lubes are very much a must for partners, gay or straight, as the anus can easily tear if penetrated roughly and does not have its own form of natural lubrication. Of course, sometimes a tight fit is good, but the advantage of lube is that it can lead to an easy slide inside.
Thirdly, lubes can add safety to safe sex. Although you must be careful which fluids you mix with condoms (except for the obvious) some lubes have added spermicidal and antiseptic properties which can make safe sex even safer.
Water based lubricants are, as their name suggests, the most natural of lubes. Their primary ingredient is water so they are a very natural thing to put on your body. Some people can find that they are allergic to lubes, particularly if they are strongly flavoured, but this is rarely the case with water-based lubes as the allergens are particularly diluted.
If you like to dress up for sex, or value your bed sheets, then water based lubes are a very good choice. As they are largely aqueous, they wash off easily if they get onto fabrics that they should not do. They are also easy to wash off
Silicone is not just for computer chips, but is a very incredible substance. It is comprised of multiple microscopic layers that slide off each other easily. This makes silicone a great choice for anal sex. Compared to the other two types of lube, people consistently place silicone as the first choice for anal sex.
The other good feature of silicone based lubes is that they are very long lasting. This means that you can get a lot of use out of a silicone based lube before it starts to wear off. There is no ‘topping up’ needed with silicone based lubes as they can be used for extensive sex sessions.
If there is one problem with silicone based lubes, it is that they are not so good for very delicate items of clothing. Unlike water based lubes, they do not wash off as quickly, or as easily. This means that your most expensive items of lingerie will need several washes before they become clean.
Flavoured lubes can be either water or silicone based, but are usually water based. They contain an additive flavour. This is usually something sweet, such as cherry or banana, but they can also contain a slight heat, or cold, stimulating substance that give stimulation or texture. The first type of lube (flavoured) is excellent for oral sex, with or without a condom. The flavour can encourage a lot of eager sucking, and various different sensations that give the feeling of being consumed like a treat! The second type of lube is great for manual stimulation as the lube reacts with friction to give off heat or cold. Altering the two types of lube, or using them on different parts of the body such as the nipples and genitals together is a sensational feeling!
