Taking your playful moments into the shower is an exhilarating experience. It's steamy (literally!), intimate, and offers a range of exciting sensations. But, like all adventures, it's better when you know a few tips and tricks. We asked our resident expert, Leo Larkin, to share the ultimate guide to shower play: the best positions, what to avoid with soap, and how to keep your balance.

Stay slippery...

Shower play is naturally steamy and wet, so you might think there's no need for additional lubrication. However, water can actually wash away your body's natural lubrication, making things feel drier than expected. While soap might seem like a fun slippery addition, it can cause irritation if it gets where it shouldn’t. Keep a little silicone-based lube handy to ensure everything stays smooth and enjoyable.

...but not too slippery!

Shower fun can range from gentle and intimate to lively and intense. But be cautious—enthusiastic moments can lead to slips and falls. A non-slip bath mat can be your best friend, providing the grip you need. Look for sturdy spots in the shower where you can brace yourself, like corners, to keep things safe and steady.

Embrace the laughter

Shower play can be a blast, but it's essential to keep a sense of humor. Water will splash, someone might get water up their nose, and at least one of you will probably look a little silly at some point. Embrace the fun and laughter—it’s all part of the adventure.

Experiment with position

Every couple is different, so experimenting with various positions will help you find what works best. For couples with a height difference, consider positions that accommodate both partners comfortably.

Get creative with the shower head

Lucky enough to have a detachable handheld shower head? Put it to use! If the hose is long enough (sorry), you can use it to add extra stimulation to lots of the positions on this list.

From behind, braced

For maximum stability, brace yourself against both walls of a corner while leaning forward. This position allows for secure and energetic play. Just be mindful of the water flow—one of you might get most of the spray!

On your knees

Shower fun doesn't have to mean full-on intimacy. Oral play in the shower is a fantastic option, with the warm water enhancing the sensations. If space allows, sitting on the edge of the tub can be a great way to mix things up—just be careful not to slip!

Take it lying down

If you have a shower over a tub, consider having the taller partner lie down while the shorter one takes the lead. This position offers support and comfort, making it a convenient choice. The surface may not be the coziest, so the upper partner might find squatting easier than kneeling.

The soap massage

Shower fun can also be about soapy hands on soapy bodies. Even a regular shower can turn into a memorable experience with a partner behind you, providing a soothing and stimulating massage. Just remember—soap is for the outside!

Treat it as foreplay

Shower play is a fantastic start, but don’t hesitate to move the fun to a more comfortable location if you want to take your time. Towel off and continue your adventure in bed or on the bathroom floor, where you can fully enjoy each other's company.

And when you're ready for round two, you can always hop back in the shower for a refreshing rinse!

When away from on a trip, request a handicapped shower stall with a benchseat.
