6 Types of People You Should Never Hook Up With

1. Never hook up with…. your crazy ex

We all know that feeling you might get at times – looking back at the good old times (except that they were really not that good at all), feeling a little nostalgic and lonely so it is easy to give into the temptation to make a drunken booty call to your ex. This has “bad idea” written all over it – there is a reason you broke up in the first place and you do not want to get sucked back into that. Step away from the phone.

2. Never hook up with… your best friend

It’s the person who knows you better than anyone, the one who has gone through a lot with you and always stood by your side. Sometimes you might get carried away and turn all that friendly love you feel for your best friend into physical passion. Best friends don’t necessarily make good lovers though and if it turns sour, you risk losing the friendship as things just get too weird.

3. Never hook up with… the partner of your best friend

Well, this should really be quite obvious – the partners of your friends are off-limits and that usually applies even if they are ex-partners. Crossing that line will most likely cost you your friendship forever and a quick shag is just not worth it.

4. Never hook up with…. your colleague at an office party

Now is the time of the year when the embarrassing memories of the last Christmas party are just starting to fade and you make the New Year’s resolution of never getting it on with your colleague again. There are few things more awkward than having to sit face-to-face at the morning meetings with someone whose face you were sitting on at the end of a particularly raucous party.

5. Never hook up with… any authority figure in a position of power over you

This goes for teachers, bosses and others. While it’s not overly uncommon for teachers and students to mix, and depending on your age it might even be perfectly legal, it’s hardly ethical from the teacher’s point of view. The forbidden fruit might seem a very attractive way to gain more sexual experience (or better grades) but it could end up in trouble, especially for the teacher. In working life the same applies to your boss as manager–employee relations are usually frowned upon. While such relations can do your career good, also the opposite is possible as any of your professional achievements might be accredited to the fact that you are shagging the boss. The other way around; if you are the boss making advances at your subordinate, that’s a sexual harassment suit waiting to happen. A big no-no either way.

6. Never hook up with… a friend's parent

I know – gross, right? Or maybe not. However, some people are attracted to people many years their senior and what with all these smoking hot cougars around, you might find yourself in a situation where you find a parent of your friend very appealing indeed. But just imagine if that was your mother or your old man in bed with your mate – you do not want to do that to anyone.

Especially with all the free hookup sites and apps out there, there are plenty of fish in the sea when it comes to dating and hooking up – don’t complicate your life unnecessarily by doing it with somebody you really ought to stay away from.
