Hooking up while travelling

One of the great many perks of going away on holiday is the increased chances of hooking up. Getting away from your usual circles, meeting new people (most of whom you will never meet again in your life), feeling free, uninhibited and possibly quite intoxicated… all that is very conducive to a fabulous encounter with somebody new.

If you've ever been backpacking on a gap year or something similar, you will know that among backpackers hooking up is very common. In popular destinations backpackers gather in great numbers and everybody is young, reckless and randy – for example the Full Moon parties in Thailand are infamous for the amount of copulation going on. In fact, most of the time the question is not whether or not you can get laid but rather as to the location of where you can do it. While sharing a dorm room with 20-odd people including your mates, there is no way discreet enough to do it in the room. Although people have been known to cover the lower bed of the bunk with a towel or something similar so that at least their roommates can’t actually see what is going on, that does nothing to diminish the sound effects. There are of course the shared toilets and bathrooms but they tend to be pretty busy places with people coming and going, not to mention the lack of romance in having to do it on a toilet seat. In the dead of the night, for lack of a better place even the corridors of hostels see a bit of action, you just have to hope that none of your mates happen to get up to go to the bathroom at the critical moment or else you will never hear the end of it.
 

It's always better on the beach

However, it’s not only the young backpackers who get it on while away. The traditional sun holiday destinations in Southern Europe have long been known as classical holiday romance locations where especially the ladies can easily find very friendly local guys rather eager to show them the – erm – sights. The local guys see the holiday-making ladies as rather open-minded and easy-going when it comes to sex (euphemism for slutty) and therefore it’s part of the local culture for the guys to chat up tourist ladies of any age, hoping for sexual encounters. Often the ladies in question are only too happy to oblige and why not – you get to go home with happy memories of some hot latino loving and maybe a curl from Pedro’s hair that you can keep as a memento for the years to come.

Find that trekkie

Also different events (especially the ones geared towards special interests) such as festivals offer great opportunities to meet lots of like-minded people. Be it a trance music festival, anime and manga meeting or a Star Trek Convention (surely nothing is impossible!), the chances are you are going to find that special someone, at least for the night. Similar interests can work well as an ice-breaker and a turn-on. After passionate conversations on the topics related to whatever it is that brought you there, you might turn your passion into physical action. You haven’t really done it until you have done it in a tent on a muddy camp ground.

Or while at work

Even if you are not really on holiday, it doesn’t mean there are no chances for a little action. Conferences are a good example of this. It’s not uncommon for people attending conferences to do some socializing after a long day of conferencing – after all, you are often staying in the same hotel, you are away from home and don’t know anyone except your fellow delegates. And if it’s all work and no play, surely that makes a very dull conference indeed. The saying “when the name badges come on, the wedding rings come off” is often pretty accurate.

Wherever you are in the world, whoever you are hooking up with, a little “something something” will surely enhance your enjoyment of the travelling and create more of those precious memories that you can treasure years to come. Maybe even Kodak moments (if you are into documenting your encounters).
