Why work out your love muscles?


These body image-obsessed days it is fairly common for people to go to the gym to work out the muscles all over their body. However, there are very important muscles you can work out without going to the gym – for instance your pelvic muscles, also referred to as your love muscles (a name I much prefer!). While these muscles are hidden inside us and might not seem like they need this kind of attention, they are actually very important for your health, sex life and even your self-esteem. There are many reasons to keep your love muscles in good shape nice and taut, varying from recovering quicker after child-bearing and avoiding incontinence to the more interesting sex-related reasons.

For women, having your love muscles in good condition has many benefits during sex. Simply put, training your love muscles also strengthens the nervous system in your pelvic area and it is the nervous system that delivers the sensations from the body to the brain. So the stronger everything involved is, the stronger sensation of pleasure you can get when stimulated in that area. Having nice and taut love muscles also gives you more control over the sensations during sex as you can tighten and loosen them according to what feels good. This way you can have more control over when you orgasm as well as enjoying more intense orgasms. The feeling of being in charge of how you get off can in turn raise your sexual self-esteem. Not to mention that you can also give your partner more pleasure and maybe surprise them with a squeeze every now and then. Let’s just come out and say it; it will also make your vagina feel tighter which is most likely going to please your partner.

Gentlemen, don’t think this is only for the ladies though. Working out love muscles has benefits for both sexes. For men training the pelvic muscles can help getting it up and keeping it up by two ways: by stimulating the blood flow to get there and having strong muscles to help support it. Training can even help controlling early ejaculation so instead of having to concentrate on the unsexiest images you can muster during sex to avoid cumming too early, maybe consider adding regular love muscle work outs to your exercise routine.

Getting started is easier than with many other exercise programs as you need very little in terms of time, equipment, space or even privacy. What is great about this particular work-out is that you can do it basically anywhere and anytime. Especially as for the ladies the motion is completely invisible, you can do it while sitting in the office, when going out for a walk, while watching TV or doing chores. Once you have located the right muscle (here’s a tip: you are looking for the same muscle you use when you need to pee but are forced to hold it – for sure you have had practise in that!), it’s easy to get started. Try doing the following exercises daily: Pump it (tighten and relax in rapid succession), hold it for a couple of seconds, try holding it longer… and keep doing these exercises regularly, increasing repetitions and length of holding it as you see fit. Be careful not to over-do it however – as with any exercises it’s possible to do too much and you might end up too tight down there which is not the aim at all! Also keep in mind that some people find doing the exercises very arousing in itself so you might need a bit of privacy after all.

While it’s very easy to work out by yourself, you can also make training more fun by combining it with either solo sex or sex with a partner. Having your partner test the strength of the squeeze might be very helpful in determining if you are improving, not to mention it can be very pleasurable. Actually, having a regular sex life is in itself a very enjoyable form of working out your love muscles. If need be, there is a variety of tools to help you train and have fun at the same time, such as the geisha balls that can be used either for training or for pleasure – better yet, combine the two!
